Scratch One From The 2012 Class

2012 Kentucky recruit and number 11 player in the nation, Alex Murphy (Southborough (Mass.) St. Mark’s), is off the recruiting board.

In a move most expected, Murphy committed to Mike Kryzewski and those stinking Duke Blue Devils (If you don’t know it, I don’t like Duke.)

Murphy, the younger brother of Gators sophomore forward Erik Murphy had strongly considered joining his brother in Gainesville.

However, he was blown away on an unofficial visit to Durham last month.

“Ultimately, it came down to my relationship with Coach K,” Murphy said. “I went down last year and visited earlier this year and just felt at home. I felt comfortable with the players and coaches – and felt like there’s no better place. It was clear to me.”

Murphy’s pledge is Duke’s first in the Class of 2012.

Rivals does not indicate that Murphy ever received an offer from Coach Calipari and the Wildcats.
