Life Lessons Via Coach Calipari

When it comes to motivation and teaching, both on the court and in life, few seem to be better then John Calipari.

He can yell and scream at a young man, place them in a head lock, use language most likely to be heard coming from the mouth of a sailor, yet his team, each and every one of them, love and adore him. They strive to please him and would probably be willing to follow him into combat.

He’s a master of the relationship. Knowing when to publicly criticize and when to keep items private. I’ve yet to hear him discuss openly, an issue with a player. DeAndre Liggins was the perfect example from last year. Liggins sat, the media asked, yet Coach Calipari never told.

He’s the Bill Belichick of college basketball, when it comes to privacy within the team.

Calipari showed, once again, just how good of a motivator and teacher he is when he posted the following on earlier today.


When Kentucky players returned to their locker room in the Joe Craft Center after Friday’s practice, Coach Calipari had placed the following sheet in each player’s locker. Coach Cal wanted to share it with the Big Blue Nation as well:
