Wall’s 21 Helps Keep the Wizards Undefeated

Game three for John Wall was a disappointment from the field, shooting 4-19 for 21%, but John made up for the poor shooting by going 13-15 from the line, scoring 21 overall points, dishing out 10 assists, some absolutely amazing, and grabbing 7 boards, all while limiting his turnover problem to a Summer League low of only 3. Wall and the Wizards jumped out to an early 20 point lead but had to hang on at the end to defeat the Dallas Mavericks 88-82, staying perfect for the 2010 Summer league.

After three games, John is averaging 21.0 points, 9.3 assists, 3.3 rebounds, 2.3 steals and 31.0 minutes. He’s managed a double-double for two games in a row, just one behind Mr. Double-Double himself, DeMarcus Cousins. John continued to show the Leadership and unselfishness that is going to make him a superstar for a long time in the NBA.

Rookie of the Year may very well come down to two former Kentucky teammates in Wall and Cousins. Unless injury forces one or both to sit, I would expect to see both names in the running at the end of the year and could possibly see one, if not both of them at the NBA All-Star Game.

In other Summer League news, Eric Bledsoe was in the spotlight last night as the Clippers won their first game of the Summer League, defeating the Portland Trailblazers 72-71.

Bledsoe scored 9 points on 3-8 from the field including 1-2 from the 3-point line and 2-4 from the charity stripe. Like Wall, he limited his previous turnover issue to only 3 while dishing out 3 assists and grabbing 2 boards.

He showed the Eric Bledsoe that Kentucky fans were used to seeing, under control with an ability to penetrate. He missed several tear drop shots from inside the lane, but you can expect those to begin to fall as the season progresses. His ability to penetrate and get inside was evident tonight as Bledsoe seems to be finding the groove with his new teammates.
