Austin Rivers Talks 2010 UK Commits Knight and Poole and 2011 Recruit Quincy Miller

Austin Rivers, son of Boston Celtics Head Coach Doc Rivers, has played against both Stacey Poole and Brandon Knight during his High School career in Florida. Rivers, the Number 6 Overall Player of the 2011 Class, said “Knight is a scoring machine. It will be interesting to see him in college and how he adapts. He will have a lot more better players around him than what he has been used to and I want to see how he’ll play with those talented teammates. I think he is a great player and will have a chance to make a big impact at Kentucky right away.”

Rivers, a senior from Winter Park, Fla., played against Knight once. He has played against Stacey Poole three times.

“He will be a good impact player at Kentucky, too,” Rivers said. “I think he was kind of overshadowed in our state by Brandon Knight, but he’s very good. He is high energy. He can do a lot of little things. He’s more athletic than he’s given credit for and probably a better player than most people realize.”

However, Rivers admits no one can outtalk current USA under-17 teammate Quincy Miller of High Point, N.C., who is rated among the nation’s top 10 seniors-to-be and has Kentucky high on his list of college choices.

“Nobody talks more than Quincy. He is by far the most talkative person you will find,” Rivers said. “It’s just his personality. He is just a loud dude who likes to talk a lot. That is what makes him. But he is a cool dude and a great player.” reports that John Calipari is personally recruiting Quincy Miller. Quincy is a 6-8, 193 lb Power Forward who can shoot the jumper, post you, drive to the basket and is a pretty good defender.

ESPN said this about Miller, “The versatile athlete is at his best when he utilizes the entire floor to score the ball. Miller has all the tools to produce a double-double every time he steps on the floor.” Expect Kentucky to stay high on Miller’s list until commitment day and don’t be surprised to see him in Kentucky blue in 2011, especially if Kanter leaves early for the NBA as moist expect he will.

Rivers will most likely turn out to be a Duke Blue Devil. Initially he had committed to SEC Rival Billy Donovan and the Florida Gators, only to decommit and reopen his recruiting process. Duke has officially offered a scholarship, although he has yet to accept and my wait until the Spring signing to make his final decision and although he says Florida is still on his list, expect him to be a Duke Blue Devil.
