Kenny Payne Visits Kentucky

Kenny Payne

Paul Jordan of Wildcat Blue Nation, is reporting |

Kenny Payne has been on campus all day and has been meeting with the basketball staff for most of the day. From all indications, all the pieces are falling into place quite nicely and we very well could hear an official announcement on Payne joining the coaching staff very soon.

Payne is widely considered one of the top recruiters in the country and he is a piece that John Calipari wanted on his staff last year.

A member of the 1986 NCAA champion Louisville Cardinals, Kenny Payne joined the Oregon staff in the Summer of 2004.

He helped reshape the offense and defense that produced the 2006-07 season when Oregon went 29-8 in winning the Pac-10 tournament and advancing to the NCAA Elite Eight.

Signing Coach Payne would step up a recruiting staff that has already put together two No. 1 classes in a row. How is Calipari going to top that, even with Payne…
