Contrary to earlier reports from Jason Jordan of ESPN-RISE, reports now say that 2010 Kentucky recruit C. J. Leslie has picked North Carolina State…

Jason Jordan reported on Tuesday the 26th that he was “hearing that he’s a lock to Kentucky”. He also reported that “Leslie to Kentucky is imminent. Just don’t expect to hear about it anytime soon.”

Apparently there was some misinformation. In the article from NewsObserver.com, they quote Leslie as saying the following:

I’m going to N.C. State,” Leslie said. “It is a great school and we can be good there. And obviously, Coach Lowe is a great coach.”

Leslie, a 6-foot-8 basketball forward, picked State over Kentucky and Connecticut.

Leslie said Wednesday morning that he was undecided with Kentucky and Connecticut still in the picture, but he decided during the day that he was sure he wanted to run with the Wolfpack.

“It was really up for grabs,” he said. “It was really close with the other two schools.”

The commitment to State was a return home in a sense. Not only will he stay in his home town, but he also will be signing with the school that he committed to after his freshman season.

Leslie committed after his first year in high school, but later decided that his decision had been too hasty.

“But State was there all the time,” he said. “State was always in the picture.”

This announcement is a blow to the inside game for the Cats and makes the Terrence Jones announcement on Friday, that much more important. With Kentucky sporting three low post players in Enes Kanter, Josh Harrellson and Stacey Poole with Darius Miller possibly in a small forward spot, Leslie seemed to be the best bet as the fourth member. Not to be, said NC State. So, now we wait and see the decision of Jones. If Terrence commits elsewhere, Calipari will have a little clean up work to complete prior to the season.
