Remember last year’s LSU-Georgia game? The one where the referees did their best to ruin a perfectly good football game by freaking out every time a player “celebrated” a touchdown? Two years from now, such calls may cost your team 7 points. NCAA’s new taunting rule an exercise in overlegislation | al.com.

Tim Tebow started a college football tradition the past few years by writing Bible verses on his eye black for each game. But that tradition is over — and not just because Tebow has graduated from the University of Florida. NCAA bans eye-black messages | Gatorsports.com.

John Calipari’s last three point guards blazed a one-year trail through college basketball and came to epitomize what now is known as the one-and-done player. John Wall, the third member of this terrific trio, soared across Sports Illustrated’s cover last winter as a headline proclaimed “The Great Wall of Kentucky.” Talk about tough acts to follow. Yet Brandon Knight, the latest fuzzy-cheeked savant to place his point guard skills in Calipari’s hands, shrugs.   “I feel wherever you go, you’re going to be looked at as someone stepping in, I mean, if someone’s leaving,” he said here on Thursday. Because of Kentucky’s recruiting momentum — which started when Kanter dominated the Nike Hoop Summit in Portland, Ore., earlier this month, and then picked up with Knight and Gilchrist — the primary question for many of the uncommitted recruits at this week’s Jordan Brand Classic is whether they’re considering the Wildcats. Then Calipari came to town. Dominoes began falling. Expectations were lifted. Now Kentucky basketball fans don’t want just one blue-chip recruit. They want all the blue-chip recruits. John Clay: UK fans are willing to settle for … every top recruit | KentuckySports.com.

Is 2010 Kentucky Recruit Josh Selby Leaning towards Kansas? It was difficult to believe Selby would want to attend Kentucky now that he’d be stuck alongside Knight, but then again, Calipari not only got Eric Bledsoe and John Wall to work, he landed both of them in the NBA draft. Anything was possible. But, thanks to a column on John Calipari’s recruitment by SI’s always-excellent Luke Winn, we now have a pretty good idea of where Selby isn’t going: Kentucky.
When I asked Selby for his reaction on Knight, he said, “I didn’t know that it happened. I don’t have a reaction, because it doesn’t have any effect on where I’m going.” Selby to Kansas? That’s the sign – College Basketball Nation Blog – ESPN.

Well, we all knew it was a possibility, but dared not “knew it” too much for fear of being wrong or jinxing the process. Coach Joker Phillips continues to be pleased with the progress of the passing game during spring practice. “That’s our emphasis in the spring, make sure we come out of this feeling good about our passing game,” Phillips said. “Saturday (during the scrimmage) we took a huge step in making some plays and throwing to the right people. Every time we come out here, that’s the emphasis, throwing the football. The thing we have to do is get our (passing) game up to speed offensively so we can be balanced.  Passing Game Continues to Progress – KENTUCKY OFFICIAL ATHLETIC SITE.

CBS Sports Columnist Gary Parrish discusses Kentucky’s signing of Brandon Knight.

Because it isn’t for the name on the front of the jersey anymore. I came to this realization yesterday watching both Brandon Knight and Michael Gilchrist commit to play at UK. It hit me like a ton of bricks: as much as we, UK fans, wish that kids across the country want to come and play at Kentucky because of the tradition and fanbase and everything else that WE celebrate about the program, the fact is nearly every kid that will come to UK this season, and last season, and most recruiting classes over the past 5 or 6 years, have come because of ONE major thing and one thing only: the coach.  Kentucky Sports Radio » Blog Archive » BTI’s Rants and Ramblings: Why do recruits come to Kentucky?.

I have never heard of ‘Daron Lamb’ or the ‘Kenutcky’ basketball program but Jay Williams seems to think they will soon be together. The ESPN analyst just tweeted that he spoke to someone in Daron’s group who said the guard will probably be heading to a school that sounds sorta like Kentucky.  Kentucky Sports Radio » Blog Archive » Let’s hope Jay Williams’ source is right.
