The Terrence’s, Ross and Jones, to Announce on the Same Day

Terrence Jones

Conway, AR | The two young men with the same graduating class and the same first names have made another decision sticking with the same theme…

Terrence Jones and Terrence Ross will announce where they will play basketball for the 2010-2011 seasons on the same day and at the same place, Portland (OR) Jefferson High School, according to Adam Zagoria of ZagsBlog.com.

The 6 ft 8 in, 220 lb power forward Jones, is the #13 rated player of the 2010 class. Jerry Meyer of Rivals said this of Terrence: “A highly skilled lefty, Jones is at his best in open space where he can utilize high level ball handling and passing abilities (Sounds perfect for the dribble drive of Coach Cal). Along with being a facilitator, he is also capable of scoring both on the perimeter and in the post with a reliable jump hook. Defensively, Jones has value because he can defend both in the low post and on the perimeter. He is a true inside/outside threat.”

Ross is a 6 ft 5 in 180 lb shooting guard and is rated the #43 ranked player according to Rivals. Scout.com said Terrence is “Known for his sweet stroke behind the arc, Ross has expanded his game and is now a threat as a pull-up artist. Rising quickly as his high school career winds down.”

Here are some excerpts from Adam’s post:

“We’ve almost been through everything together, worked out, tournaments and he’s back home so we just wanted to give our school something to cherish that day, just choose the same day,” Jones said Thursday at the Jordan Brand Classic practice at Sports Club/LA in Manhattan.

Both players are considering four of the same five schools: Oklahoma, Kentucky, Oregon and Washington with Jones considering UCLA and Ross considering Kansas.

So, could they end up landing in the same spot for college?

“It could happen but I want him to do what’s best for him and me to do what’s best for me,” Jones said. “If that’s together then that’s good. But if it’s not then I’ll respect it.”

Late this afternoon, The Seattle Times.com reported the following on Jones and Ross:

Has Terrence Jones narrowed his list? Maybe so. According to Scout.com, the Portland standout recruit has reduced his favorites to three: Kentucky, Oregon and Washington. Not exactly in that order. The schools eliminated would be Oklahoma and UCLA.

I saw this being discussed on a thread of an earlier post, but for those who may have missed it North Carolina-bound guard Kendall Marshall tweeted he believes Jones and Terrence Ross are headed to Washington. Marshall predicted the futures of eight high-profile recruits. So far, he’s been right on three and wrong on one. The other four are still uncommitted.

It has been rumored for a while, that both could come as a package deal and would be a dynamite one-two punch for any team. Currently Kentucky is strong on the recruiting list of Jones and Ross, along with shooting guard Doron Lamb (#21 Ranked) and power forward C. J. Leslie (#14 Ranked). All four are strong possibilities with the two strongest probably being Lamb and Leslie.

“Jones said the pair will announce either April 23 or 30 and have yet to decide when.”
