Brandon Knight and Michael Gilchrist have officially committed to the University of Kentucky. According to Nation of Blue.com, a very good, but unnamed source, has confirmed that both Brandon Knight and Michael Gilchrist have officially committed to the Big Blue.

So the question now is does C. J. Leslie follow Brandon Knight to Kentucky? In an earlier article (Knight Not a Lock Yet) posted earlier today, Adam Zagoria of ZagsBlog.com reported the following:

The source also indicated that uncommitted senior forward C.J. Leslie of Raleigh (N.C.) Word of God “wants to go to school with Brandon.”

C. J. is a former teammate of John Wall and had this to say about John:

“Just being around him as a close friend off the court, you get to see how to deal with different things, different schools and just how to maintain everything. It had an effect on me, but I am my own person. … I can’t say I didn’t learn anything from John, because I did. He went through it before I did. And now I’m going through it, and I know the ins and outs about everything.”

In a previously posted article entitled The Replacements, we focused on the top recruits still available to Coach Calipari, including Brandon Knight and C. J. Leslie.

News that the #1 Recruit for the 2010 and 2011 years will commit, and the thought that C. J. Leslie may soon follow, begins what could be an amazing two to three-week period for Kentucky.

As of now, if the predictions are correct, the face of Kentucky Basketball next year looks like this:

  • Darnell Dodson | 6 ft 7 in | Guard
  • Darius Miller | 6 ft 7 in | Guard
  • Jon Hood | 6 ft 6 in | Guard
  • Brandon Knight | 6 ft 3 in | Point Guard
  • Enes Kanter | 6 ft 10 in | Forward/Center
  • Josh Harrellson | 6 ft 10 in | Forward
  • C. J. Leslie | 6 ft 8 in | Power Forward
  • Stacey Poole | 6 ft 5 in | Guard/Forward
  • DeAndre Liggins | 6 ft 6 in | Guard

If Coach Cal doesn’t sign another player, Kentucky will be strong at least seven, possibly eight Players deep, depending on the development of Jon Hood.

Still on the table, Josh Selby (most likely a Kansas commit), Terrence Jones, Doron Lamb (strong Kentucky recruit), Luke Cothran and Terrence Ross. Any would be a major addition, especially if Darnell were to transfer, but don’t be surprised if Calipari signs two of those above. Best bets are Doron Lamb and Terrence Jones.

What was a skeleton crew just a few weeks ago is starting to shape up as signing day approaches.

Here is a little Michael Gilchrist to wet your appetite for 2011-12…
